Iodine is combined with silver to make silver iodide, which is used in photography and cloud seeding.
In 1839 Louis Daguerre exposed silver coated copper plates to iodine, and created silver iodide. This allows images to be recorded through silver iodides light sensitive properties. Now Daguerre is known as one of the fathers of photography.
